Do I have to be in good shape before I start?Not at all, Wing Chun focuses on perfecting technique rather than fitness. However, as you progress through the system you will certainly develop improved fitness, strength and coordination.

I am 50 years old, am I too old to start martial arts?"No, in the Muifaa Academy students can start at any age from adolecense through their 50's and older.

I am very busy with my working schedule, how much time do I need to devote to Wing Chun classes?"At each class you will be given exercises that you can practice at home, to rapidly improve. As you progress you may want private lessons which can further help to hone your skills.

What makes Wing Chun different?Wing chun focuses on fast efficient self-defence supported by body structure and internal power development. We strip away unessesary movement and develop automatic reflexes against oncoming force, to increase speed dramatically. Through deditcated training, a student learns and applies techniques to overcome situtations as quickly as possible to avoid harm.

Do you practise with weapons?Higher level students have the option to learn the use of the Wing Chun long pole and butterlfy knives. Weapons training begins in a safe enivronment, focusing first on learning forms and translations to hand-based techniques. Progression to weapon sparring and applications against agressors can then be studied.

Do you have gradings?Gradings are available any student on request. Gradings are not mandatory but they are a great motivation and can help you to assess your level within the system.
